Rubberized Bitumen

Waterproofing Emulsion

Duraflex Bitumen Rubber is a rubberized bitumen emulsion, which is used together with Duraflex Membrane to provide a liquid waterproofing system. Duraflex Bitumen Rubber can also be used in koi ponds, dams & reservoirs.

uses

Versatile Uses

Duraflex Bitumen Rubber can be used in various areas like flashings, parapet walls, flat roof waterproofing areas, sealing joints, laps and roofing screws on corrugated roofs. May be used in areas of total water immersion like koi ponds, dams & reservoirs.

qualities

Typical Physical Properties

Density: 1.02 g/cm3. Finish: Matt. Flash Point: None. Dilution: Water only. Toxicity: Non-toxic. Volume Solids: 52% minimum. Theoretical VOC: < 0.001 g/L. Consistency: Thixotropic paste. Elastic Recovery (typical): 65%. Drying Time @ 25 ºC: Touch Dry: ± 1 hour Hard Dry: ± 24 hours Full Cure: ± 7 days

advantages

Product Advantages

There is no need for primers except on metal surfaces. It has excellent adhesion and is flexible, tough and non-toxic. Suitable for use for drinking water and animal water troughs. Ideal for use in koi ponds, dams and reservoirs. Note: If Duraflex Bitumen Rubber is used in a koi pond, dam or reservoir, allow to dry for 14 days. Rinse with clean water before filling.

surface preparation

Priming the Surface

For metal surfaces use DURAFLEX Red Oxide Primer or DURAFLEX BituSolve Primer. For all other surfaces dilute 1 part DURAFLEX Bitumen Rubber with 1 part clean water and apply at approximately 200 – 300ml per m2 and allow to dry before applying DURAFLEX Bitumen Rubber.

Duraflex Rubber Seal

Duraflex Rubber Seal is blend of Butyl & Acrylic Rubber
that forms a sealant ideal for waterproofing and sealing metal and various surfaces.

application

Application Method

The first coat DURAFLEX Bitumen Rubber: Brush or roll on a thick coat (0.75 L/m2) and embed the DURAFLEX Membrane well into the wet coating. On flat surfaces, it is recommended to use a fluted roller for this purpose. Membrane overlaps should be a minimum of 100 mm on end laps and 75 mm on side laps. Second coat DURAFLEX Bitumen Rubber: Once the first coat has cured enough to take working traffic (2-3 hours), apply a second coat of DURAFLEX Bitumen Rubber (0.75 L/m2) to ensure the membrane is completely saturated with DURAFLEX Bitumen Rubber and allow to dry. Third coat DURAFLEX Bitumen Rubber or DURAFLEX Premium Elastomeric Roof Coating. Apply a final coat of DURAFLEX Bitumen Rubber (0.6 L/m2) to give a smooth finish or 2 coats of DURAFLEX Premium Elastomeric Roof Coating at 2.5m2 per L per coat for extra protection and excellent cooling properties and UV resistance. Coverage: 2.1 L/m2 – full system.
